  About Us Two

The reality of TWOLOST began shortly after I married my awesome wife in the spring of 2003. We knew that we wanted to spend some good quality weekends together away from the pressure, generic noise, stress, and commotion of daily living.

For more than 30+ years my personal escape from the daily rat-race came in the form of off-road motorcycle riding & racing. Pushing oneself to the limits of control on a motorcycle is a very personal, unbelievably rewardable, and (at times) a very costly experience. Any shared camaraderie comes only after you have stepped off the bike.

To include my wife in such an experience (to be more than a supportive spectator) we knew that I needed to open up my motorcycle passion to be inclusive of the both of us. To this end - and with her full support - we agreed that the best thing to do would be to ride two-up on the same machine - thus changing the solo competition aspect of my off-road riding into a dual experience of discovery and adventure for us both. My wife could share in my love and passion for piloting around on two wheels, we could go and discover simple, natural, hard to get to destinations... and we could take full advantage of the freedom, wonder, and beauty that surrounds and inspires us.

In late September of 2003, my wife and I pulled the trigger and purchased the largest off-road, street legal motorcycle on the market.. a 2004 BMW R1150GS Adventure. This two wheeled behemoth is capable of carrying two people and a hundred pounds of gear ** off-road ** in style and relative comfort.

The exceptionally large fuel tank also gives this bike more than 300 miles of traveling distance between fuel stops - enabling us to explore lots of out-of-the-way places.

There is no doubt that many months of product research, gear selection, trip preparation, and watching the odometer click-off many thousands of adventure miles lie in front of us. This site is our record (my wife and I) of our preparation, experience and knowledge gained as we attempt to navigate the world around us.. on two wheels.. together.
